The Quads Car Club
The Quads originated in the So. Mpls. area in 1957. They joined GSTA in 1960 and are still one of the active clubs. Formed by Ted Smith of Smith Auto, Tom Bedolfson, and others, they were active in forming and running MN. Dragways, working on the Mpls. Aquatennial floats, having the Road Runs, that were popular in the 60’s and promoting hot rodding and Car Clubs by giving out “Courtesy Cards” , and participating in various civic events. In the late 60’s a merger with the original Flywheelers added members like Ray Ruettiman, Ron Braun, Ky Michaelson, Roger Kern and others. They were active in campaigning all the Gopher dragsters. Many of the members have held offices in GSTA including Ted Smith, Ray Ruettiman, Ron Ruettiman, and Ron Braun. Events including the GSTA banquets, car shows and racing nationally at NHRA events were a big part of the Quads activities.
